Excellent topic! Walker’s Shortbread is always a treat. I particularly enjoy it when backpacking. It has an outstanding caloric content (butter ftw) and very little wasted airspace. I have calculated it’s caloric density at around 4900 calories/liter (just under almond butter, Larabars and Honey Stinger Waffles on my spreadsheet). This density along with shortbread’s durability means Walker’s Shortbread always earns a place in my bear can on backcountry trips!
Walkers Shortbread: Possibly the best storebought cookie, but....man, I've been making my own shortbread and I swear it just has a *slightly* better texture than theirs 😄
But I probably couldn't pull together 5 lbs of it for just a bit over $25!
What a great story! I love how Walker’s has kept “integrity” as its main business focus for over a century. Thank goodness there are still some companies out there with the same ethos. Unlike the big 10 companies controlling the food industry, as in Nestlé, Kellogg’s and such...
On a light note, your blog reminded me that at this time of the year, I usually get a tin of Walker’s shortbread. And so I will! 😉👍🏻😉

Walker's is by far my favorite cookie. Thank you for writing about this topic!

I am looking for a darn good shortbread cookie that can be made at home.
Thanks in advance! 🙂
